West Middlesex Easter Open Tournament

For the 7th year WMLTC hosted a LTA Grade 4 tournament over the Easter weekend.

The seven events – Men’s and Ladies Open, Men’s over 35s, Mens over 45s and Men’s Doubles attracted 95 entrants with players from twenty counties. The event was refereed by David Fuchs. Despite intermittent rain and windy weather the matches were uninterrupted and kept to schedule.

In the Men’s Open finals Matthew Finnerty (Warwickshire) beat local contestant Anthony Veryard in a close fought match. The ladies event was won by Rebecca Smaller (Middlesex) who beat Jasmine Judkins (Surrey). The men’s doubles winners were Jonathan Wildman and Neroosh Raviranjan with runners up French brothers  Fabien and Matthieu Zinsner. Leonardo Munoz Zanni won the Men’s 35 and over event, runner up Gary Stanford. Men’s 45 and over was won by Terry Stidder, runner up Dominic Adams.

Club members supported the event by providing the refreshments throughout the weekend and enjoyed some excellent tennis.

Mini Tennis Red Open Tournament January 2010

Sunday 31st January saw the latest LTA Mini Tennis Red Tournament at West Middlesex Tennis Club in West Ealing.  On a cold but sunny afternoon, 8 children aged  7 and 8 years old from Middlesex and the surrounding areas, played in a round robin competition in two groups.  The winners and runners-up in each group played each other. The level of tennis for these youngsters was incredibly high. The overall winner Thomas Bell from Pinner Moss Lane Club, won the final match 10-2, 10-8 and took home a medal.  All the players enjoyed their matches and there was a great sense of fair play and competitive spirit from these youngsters.
